Chinese Natural Slate is exploited from the metamorphic rock quarries formed about 300 million years ago which started as a sedimentary deposit of mudstone. Through the long period of action of burial, compression and heat, the composition is changed to a more crystalline material with laminar features, a quartzite may even be formed in extreme conditions. The laminar property enables the material to be split into parallel sheets, providing a natural riven surface. This is really wonderful! Slate is chiefly comprised of quartz and illite, with mica, calcite, and minor quantities of other various minerals. Slate can be put into three big categories: Quartzite slate, Sandstone slate, and Ordinary slate. Slates vary in color, most commonly seen in black, gray, red, purple and green. Red color is due to the presence of Hematite, while green colors are due to Chlorite. Gray and black are due to carbon or graphite. Shades of red (purple) and tan are related to varying amount of iron oxides. Slate is with hard quality and bright colors, and its special layer structure surely results in its high bending strength, anti-pressure, wearproof and corrosion-resisting. In addition to the traditional slate colors of black and grey, slate is now supplied by Xinle Foreign Economic & Trade Corporation managed by Mr Cui Xiaoguo, in a large range of different colors, including rusty, red, green, purple, yellow, pink, white etc, totaling over 36 natural colors. We have the biggest slate production base in Asia, and our slate has been exported to many advanced countries over the world. |
